lets see what world war two thingies i have in my head .
what efforts were made by the british to defend singapore ?
1.the british decided that in order for them to protect britain , the british would send ships from europe to singapore when she is in danger . Singapore was selected to build a naval base
2.in order to protect the naval base in Singapore , 15 inch guns were installed facing the sea .Underground bunkers were built in fort canning park and Labrador and Sembawang
3.roads in malaya were few and heavily guarded so that invading armies would ..... __________________________________
Why did the British fail to protect singapore ?
1. it is because the Japanese had already set up some intelligence services before the war started so as to know more about Singapore .
2 .The Japanese had owned lands in Singapore and Malaya and observed the construction of the naval base .
3 .Japanese photographers took pictures of railways and roads , etc etc before the war (:British
4th . the British had underestimated the Japanese's army . However , the Japanese proved them wrong when their zero fighter planes (which were modern and prooo ) defeated almost half of the British's planes ( which was old and low tech .. ? )
5th . the Japanese soldiers were trained in jungle warfare , meaning , that they not only used tanks but also bicycles . and therefore , being able to move swiftly down Malaya .
how did the war change the lives of people in Singapore ?
1st . The British , Australians and allied Europeans were brought to prison by the japanese . These allied soldiers were made to march from ____________ to the Padang .
2nd . The Japanese used fear to rule Singapore . The Kempeitai (sp?) caused fear and anxiety amongst the people .
3rd .People suspected of helping the British were put to death . x_x
What was the rule of terror ?( i didnt know how to ask the question cause i just wrote rule of terror beside the words )
1st . Soon after taking control of Singapore , THe japanese carried out operation sook ching (sp?) it was carried out by people helping the Japanese . The person(might be neighbour blah blalh blah ) would just point out and identify people who were suspected of anti jap elements . ( might just point out people they hate -_- )
2nd . Chinese guys aged 18 - 50 had to report somewhere to be ' checked ' by the Japanese . People who pass the 'examination' would be given a small piece of paper with the stamp ' examined'on it . People who failed was put to death .
3rd .The japanese punished the chinese ( why ?) by forcing them to collect and pay / ' donate' $$50 million( what currency? )
-
Propaganda* was done to influence the minds of people of Singapore so as to be loyal to japan .
Propaganda is the action taken to ' brainwash' people - as said by mrs nathan . i think . =\

Economic lives of people .
1. Rationing was introduced to people so as to control the sales of food .. ?
2 . the price of food rised as the japanese simply printed more notes when they were out of it and the notes were made of inferior quality paper and they had no serial numbers on it .

and i cant remember anymore -_-
head hurts man .
